About Allison Saunooke
For every woman in today's society who is trying to mesh both the independent, completely stable and happy career woman of today with her preceding generations notion of the female role in society, Confessions of an Ex-Girlfriend, is an incredible ride that will make you laugh, cry and shout for triumph of self. Although the author, Lynda Curnyn, targets mainly female audience, she does a fabulous job of addressing every woman's inner ego and emotions. Curnyn accurately depicts the several phases one goes through after leaving what the she terms "Happy Couple-dom", and being forced back into the fast-paced, single lifestyle commonly found in any big city.
The book is written in a very intimate and frank manner, and the characters are vivid and real and experience many situations and problems that today's woman in her transition from girlhood to womanhood faces. Although one may think at first the novel is stereo-typical in nature, i.e., meaning that once her main character finds love her problems will be solved, the book does contain a deeper exploration of self. In the end, she realizes that love only completes you once you have learned to complete yourself.
This book honestly had me laughing out loud, and brought tears to my eyes as the main character faced many challenges that hit all too close to home. It will make any female dealing with decisions and challenges in her life, decide to take control and do something. If you are looking for a light-hearted, enjoyable read, this page turner hits the spot.
