About Jennifer Andrew
From the New York Times best-selling author, Terry Goodkind, Wizard's First Rule is the first book in the Sword of Truth series. The book is about a magic sword that was created to destroy a prince of lies. A magical world in which chaos reigns and the brave have to come forward to defend what is honest and good.
The story begins from the first time you open the pages of this book. The author makes you jump immediately into the story without waiting to find out every piece of information about each character. You learn about the main characters and important characters as you read the story so information isn't just thrown at you.
The evil enemy, Darken Rahl, rules almost all the kingdoms in the land. His intention, as all evil ruler, is to rule them all. With his dark armies, hideous beasts and black magic, he wants everyone to bend to his will. No one wants to confront him because they are too afraid. Who wouldn't be? You would be going against unbeatable odds. The reader finds out that the enemy truly believes that what he is doing is right and just. He seems to believe that he is only just doing the right thing and his people will soon come to realize that. That is the definition of a crazy man in my book!
Due to a decision that he had to quickly make at the last minute, one man steps forward in the attempt to rid their world of this evil and he carries the sword of truth. A woodsman and warrior, he travels toward doom or victory, with the only intention to destroy this guy. Through the sword, he learns more about himself and the dangers he has to face.
While reading the book, you find out what the Wizard's First Rule is and why it is so important. This book is thick and with over 700 pages, it makes a great read. You are able to learn about the author's characters and really get to dislike the evil Darken Rahl.
