I attended a monthly meeting with the association that I belong to called the International Association of Administrative Professionals, which met the first Wednesday of every month. After listening to the guest speaker of the evening, we had our usual raffle of the month. This time I purchased a few tickets hoping that I would win one of the prizes displayed.
They had several prizes, one of which was this cookbook, Pantry Raid, which was donated to our Toronto Chapter by a bookstore in Downtown Toronto. Fortunately, I won the cookbook and I am glad that I did.
My favorite section in this cookbook was the "Soup, Vegetables and other Salads" section. I enjoyed making the Red Snapper Salad because it was quick and easy and when completed, very delicious. I also liked the fact that the book had a section listing information on how to properly keep frozen foods and for how long the frozen food should be kept.
What I liked about the book besides the recipes was the fact that it had a once a month grocery checklist for all the recipes in the book which prepared you to have the ingredients on hand when choosing any one of the selections in the book.
There was also a section that listed food substitutes or equivalents for certain recipes just in case you either couldn't use a particular ingredient for whatever reason or you didn't have the ingredient on hand.
I ended up sharing the cookbook with my sister since her cooking experience is limited to Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, frozen dinners and canned sausages so she needed as many cookbooks in her kitchen as possible.
