About Jennifer Andrew

Dragondoom This was a great book! Long after I read it, the characters were still fresh in my mind. What I enjoyed most about the book is the unlikely relationship that developed between a human and a dwarf.

The story is set during war times and two characters, each from their own side of the world, must journey to find a magic war hammer that would help each of their cities fight an undefeatable foe. The two main characters are Elyn, a princess from Jord, which is a nation of humans and horsemen, and Thork, a dwarven prince of Kachar and one of the mightiest warriors. His people are being terrorized by the meanest dragon of all time that is hoarding their treasure so it is very to him that he obtain this weapon.

It is a wonderful tale of magic, mystery and black arts consisting of a variety of fantasy creatures and heart beating adventure. Dennis L. McKiernan writes the tale so that the reader is eager to know the main characters. I couldn't decide from the two characters which Cause to follow because the author made me understand both sides of the story and how important the war hammer was to each of them. It was quite humourous when they were arguing with each other because you could actually see a relationship developing between them, even though it appeared as if the characters could not.

There was a large prejudice between the human species and the dwarves in this book. It was good to see two characters conquering their personal prejudices and being able to actually help each other understand their differences.

Dragondoom is a great book for both men and women to read because whether Dennis L. McKiernan wanted to or not, he produced a novel with a touch of fantasy romance. The book is filled with action, determination on the part of the main characters, a thick theme of good versus evil in a fantasy realm but it also holds compassion and a definite development between two different races. It reminds me of the different types of relationships that we experience in North America and how people deal with the differences. It is a refreshing change from the types of fantasy and science fiction novels that are published and I am glad that he produced it.

It was a great fantasy story. This isn't a new book but it is a classic and should be read because you will enjoy it. Dragondoom inspired me to seek out other books from Dennis L. McKiernan and found that he is one of the best fantasy writers that we have.
