About the book reviewer

Liz Smith

Liz Smith is a thoroughly self-employed writer, editor, researcher, and web enthusiast. Her articles have been published repeatedly in major mainstream magazines including Woman's Own, Moxie, College Bound, and York Magazine. Although she has written in every genre, (she is a WORKING writer, afterall!) she specializes in women's and feminist issues, and has written frequently for women's publications including Herspace, Riot Grrl, Blue Jean, Fabula, and her own new grrl power zine, New Media Grrl. She has also contributed to additional venues including Pioneer Thinking, Geek2Chic, Dayjob; and newspapers including The Woodstock Times, The Eagle, The Daily Freeman, and The Macomb Journal.

She has designed both content and layout for websites ranging from www.juliusjohn.com, www.mattmaysart.com, to www.newmediagrrl.com, as well as her own, www.professionalwriter.dingojunction.com She has served as both an online editor for Herspace, an editor/writer/researcher for trivia company, Questions Galore, and the Assistant to the Publisher at Art Times.

Born in LA, now freelancing from NY, and having driven across over 25 states in the union, she has also lived in Spokane, the Silicon Valley and Illinois. When her last lease finally runs out, her dream is to freelance from the comfort of a log cabin in Flagstaff, where she will continue to pay her rent and bills from her pajamas.
